Mental Health

Mentoring

One-to-one psychoeducational mentoring for young people experiencing behavioural/emotional difficulties.

Aimed at helping young people develop key self-regulation skills that enable them to operate within a larger window of emotional tolerance. By using grounding techniques to break over-identification with thoughts and feelings that lead to dysregulated states, students are guided in developing the tools needed to choose healthier responses to triggers and independently calm their nervous system. In doing so, they are effectively learning to take ownership of their mental health.

Ideal for young people experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties.

Training

Presentations and workshops related to working effectively with young people experiencing mental health difficulties.

Aimed at creating a more trauma-informed way of working by enhancing staff’s understanding of how trauma relates to behaviour in young people. Staff who know exactly how to recognise and respond to the communications that underpin a trauma-affected young persons behaviour feel more empowered in their ability to make a difference. This is intuitively recognised by students, leading to more effective interventions.

Ideal for staff who either directly or indirectly work with young people presenting behavioural or emotional difficulties.

Consultancy

Strategic support for SLT in creating a school culture that is conducive to good student mental health.

Aimed at ensuring mental health provision within the school environment feels both relevant and responsive. Relevant mental health provision refers to support that meets the needs of students, whilst responsive mental health provision means to have support available that feels accessible in crisis moments. To ensure student mental health provision is truly effective, strategic consideration needs to be given to both of these key components.

Ideal for schools committed to improving the quality and accessibility of their mental health provision for students.

Inclusion

Mentoring

One-to-one specialist mentoring for young people holding the protected characteristics of race or religion/belief.

Aimed at helping young people holding protected characteristics explore subconscious narratives around their identity. Quite often, young people internalise the social rejection that may exist around their protected characteristic/s, leading to the development of a self-rejecting core belief. Specialist mentoring nurturing an environment of empowerment intends to convince young people of an alternative narrative.

Ideal for young people experiencing feelings of isolation due to difficulties around their identity.

Training

Presentations and workshops related to working effectively with young people holding protected characteristics.

Aimed at creating a more inclusive way of working by giving staff an insight into the internal world of a young person holding the protected characteristics of race or religion/belief. By understanding how this internal experience can create major barriers to learning, staff are taught how to help students feel acknowledged and valued so that they are able to operate from a more authentic part of themselves, and thus thrive.

Ideal for staff who either directly or indirectly work with young people holding protected characteristics.

Consultancy

Strategic support for SLT in creating an inclusive school culture for those holding certain protected characteristics.

Aimed at ensuring the overall school culture broadly fosters a sense of safety and belonging for students holding the protected characteristics of race and religion/belief. Safety simply means to not be in danger, whereas feeling a sense of belonging means students feel part of the collective. For true inclusion to be achieved, in addition to feeling safe, students need to feel they have a role to play within the school community.

Ideal for schools committed to improving inclusion, aiming to deliver relevant changes in an appropriate manner.
